Is a pull-up bar worth it?

October 07, 2021

What’s a pull-up bar and how does it work?

A bit of an obvious one here, but a pull-up bar is a bar that you use to pull up your body weight by using the handles with your arms. You can use a variety of grips and target different muscle areas in your body. A pull-up bar can be installed in your door frame or in a garage space. A pull-up bar is super affordable and extremely versatile when it comes to exercises you can do!

Pull-up bar exercises

  • Pull-up: amazing for your upper back. You can change the muscles you are targeting just by changing your grip. Over the bar, under the bar, wide grip, narrow grip, the options are endless!

  • Dead hanging: amazing for decompressing your spine and letting all the muscles in your upper back breathe. Feels amazing if you sit all day for your job and stare at screens. Great for stretching your neck too.

  • Hanging knee raises: awesome for your core and you can do hanging straight leg raises as well or add your variation of choice. Really anything you do on the pull-up bar, as long as your form is good, is awesome for your body.

  • Chin-ups are great to workout your biceps, your back, and pull your entire body together. It’s a great challenge to learn too.

Should I get a pull-up bar?

If you have the right door frame that can support a pull-up bar and your weight, absolutely. They are compact and you can bring them from house to house as you move with not much difficulty. They are really versatile and you can set fun rules like when you go to the kitchen, you have to do 10 pull-ups each time (that’s fun, right?). It’s amazing how quickly your body adapts to consistent exercise and you will notice yourself being able to do more and more pull-ups with every week that you practice!
