Are aerobic steppers good exercise?

What are aerobic steppers for exercise?

Basically, they are exactly what they sound like! An aerobic stepper is a piece of equipment that looks like a small bench. It simulates stepping or climbing stairs when used for active exercise. It’s extremely versatile for many different movements and is known to protect joints and offer a more gentle workout compared to something more intense like CrossFit.

Aerobic steppers are great for overall fitness, and they have been around since the 1980s when they first became popular in aerobics. Steppers are still a great exercise tool today!

They come in a variety of options, from an adjustable stepper for at-home workouts to commercial robust steppers and even a stepper workout bench that includes a ramp and an adjustable back. A stepper is great to have in your home gym since they are low-tech and extremely versatile.

How to use aerobic steppers for exercise

Steppers are traditionally used in a cardio workout so you can really get your heart rate going while still protecting your joints. With step aerobics, you can also burn fat and build muscles.

To start using steppers, you can begin with basic aerobic moves by simply stepping on the platform first with your right foot, then your left, and alternating sides. With adjustable steppers, you can increase height and thus the intensity of your workout. You can also increase the speed of your stepping, and even turn to the side to target different muscle groups!

For a deeper stretch, you can lunge using steppers and really get into those tight hamstrings. Steppers are great for improving your technique and form and really paying attention to your movements, slowly. Steppers are often used in aerobic classes so you can try a YouTube video at home using yours to learn some new moves.
